These old lyrics are full of awe for the mysterious workings of God.  I’ve always particularly loved the clever imagery of God riding on the storm, which calls beautifully to mind the image of our Savior striding across a tempestous Galilee to rescue frightened disciples.  The original melody drives compellingly forward, carrying with it a feeling of God’s unstoppable forward motion towards His goals, but I’ve always wished that the melody was a little more mysterious sounding, so I took the original melody and put it into minor.  The minor key seems to suit the feeling of mystery and awe that the lyrics evoke.
